Primitive Ceramic Salt & Pepper Shaker

Hi everyone! Since I posted last I've been really busy in my studio making the Primitive Kitchen Canisters, and more! It's quit the process from start to finish, (which I already knew), but is so worth it in the long run. 

If you know me at all, or have been following me for a while, you know that my favorite paints are acrylics. But, since I started making ceramics several years ago, I've really wanted to paint them using ceramic paints & glazes because when I paint them with the acrylics it takes too long and there are so many steps to take.  I really want to cut down on the time it takes to make them. 

So I made a Salt Shaker painted in ceramic paints and glazes and wanted to show you some photos of what they look like painted in both types of paints, acrylic & ceramic paints and glazes. 

These were painted in acrylic paints on the outside and then stained. Then sealed with a matte sealer. 

They have clear ceramic glaze on the inside so their food safe.

   

This one was painted with the ceramic paints, and a mocha crackle glaze on the outside. (You can't see the mocha crackle glaze to well in the photo, so I posted a close up photo below.) The inside has clear ceramic glaze so they're food safe.

 Here I'm showing you a close up photo so that you can see the crackle glaze. 

This close up shows what the tops look like. The photo shows them being lighter than they actually are. I'd say they are actually a shade darker than the photo, and the crackle can be well seen from a distance. 

I will be shading around the tops and bottoms with another layer because I don't like how this one looks for as far as shading goes.

I will start painting Canisters and such starting 4/25/2016. If you don't like them painted in the ceramic paints and glazes let me know and I'd be happy to paint them in acrylics for you. The price of those will be a little higher than the one's done in ceramic paints and glazes, but I'm happy to do them for you.

My New Pottery Studio!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! 

I've been exremely busy around here!
A couple weeks ago I had a garage sale and I was able to get rid of 95% of the things that were occupying my shelving, that I needed to use for my pottery.
 My husband and I cleaned the garage and I'm all organized and I've already begun making my pottery!  

Here's some photos of my new pottery studio.
It's nothing fancy, but at least I have a clean organized space to work. 

 As you can see from the photo above, I've been pouring, trimming and cleaning pottery to get them ready for the kiln.
I will be firing my first load this week, and I'm pretty excited!

 Today I'm testing & experimenting with colors. 

I've been doing a lot of thinking about the pottery I'm going to be making and will have some surprises in store!

Primitive Kitchen Canisters - Ceramic & Wood

Hi everyone! 

I've received several emails about my Primitive Kitchen Canisters and whether or not I'm going to be making anymore of them or not.

So I thought I'd write a post to answer your questions.

The answer is YES :)  I will be making more of these in ceramic. But, it will be at least another month before I start making them. I need to get my garage cleaned up and organized but, it's just to cold out there right now. As soon as it has warmed up some I will get that done so I can start making them again. When I start making them I will let you know here on my blog.

 As for the primitive wooden canisters, I'm not sure whether or not we will be able to make more of those yet or not. The reason being is, last I heard we couldn't purchase the removable rubber containers for the inside of them anymore. But I have to do some looking into this to see if we can find something that we can put inside of those that will work so their food safe.

Mini Cardinal Windchime - Renee Mullins

Hi everyone!

Today I have a Mini Cardinal Windchime to share with you all. 

This is designed by Renee Mullins and the pattern is called "Winter Melody". You can find it here.  

I know Christmas is months away, but I wanted to make something small and this project seemed to fit in. And besides you can paint Christmas things any time of year can't you? ;) 

I painted the design with Americana Acrylic paints.
The back has been stained with Minwax.
The item has been sprayed front and back with a clear glossy sealer, so it's safe to hang outside. It comes with a gold hanger attached and is ready to hang.

Love Is In The Air - Laurie Speltz

Hi everyone! 

Today I have a new project to share with you all. 

This is my first painting, designed by Laurie Speltz. 

I've wanted to paint this project for quite a while because you can display this piece in your home from Christmas through Valentines Day, and when you see it you will know why. ;)

The design was meant to be painted on a cutting board. I didn't have the exact cutting board she mentioned, so I adapted the design to fit onto the board I all ready had on hand.

Here's sort of a step by step video on how I painted it. I kept forgetting to take photos of each step but I'm getting better at remembering to do that I promise! 

This is a free pattern called "Love Is In The Air", that you can find on the "Artists Club" website here.  

In fact there are tons of free patterns there available for download!

Christmas Mitten Ornaments-Renee Mullins

Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a happy new year so far!

I've been really busy painting all kinds of things!

Today I'm sharing with you the finished Mitten Ornaments that I've been working on.

 I normally only share photos of my finished projects and not the item in stages.  But, I thought maybe you might be interested in seeing these. So I took these photos with my phone and one day I noticed that my phone had all the photos together of these mittens and animated them and turned them into a video. I thought this was so cool, because my phone has never done that before! So, I'll be sharing a little video on how I painted these. I think sharing this way is so awesome because you can see how I painted my items step by step. 

I will continue to share my project video's with you.

These were so fun to paint! I love Christmas, and Gingerbread men, don't you! They're so cute!!!

And who doesn't love Christmas cookies!

Hand Painted Ornaments

Hi everyone! I hope you all are well! 

I've redesigned the blog since I feel like I'm kind of starting fresh. So new look and fresh start!

Since shutting down both businesses, I've been spending time with family and enjoying not having to work! It's been awesome let me tell you! So much less stress in my life! And no time tables!

I've also done a little crafting. I've made some cards, Treat bags, colored, hosted a Halloween party, Thanksgiving and Christmas. I had planned on posting about each thing I made, but it always seemed like I'd get sick when I wanted to get that done. In fact I was sick 3 times last year with one thing or another.  And I'm starting this year being sick with another cold, and this one is a bad one. I'm on day 14 and it's not showing signs of getting any better which in turn is slowing down what I want to do and that is paint and pour some more ceramics! 

I am however, painting again, and loving it. I can't believe how much I've missed painting. I'm working on some hand painted ornaments right now, a design by Renee Mullins of Plum Purdy Designs. Here's some photo's of them. 

A little bit more to do! :) But you can see the progression. 

I've been doing a lot of thinking about exhibiting at the Holiday Food And Gift Fair this year in November. I've exhibited here a couple times and really loved it. I've also been thinking about offering up my paintings for sale here on my blog again, and I think I'm going to do that by having a buy now button located under each item once I've made it and have it posted.

A Fresh Start!!!

Hi everyone! Wow! It's been a very long time since I've been able to post here. Almost a year!!! That tells you how busy I've been with both businesses. 

I'd like to thank all of you for being a follower of my blog even though I haven't been posting. 

Thank you all so much for sticking with me! 

After 11 years we've decided to close our doors on both businesses. It was a very hard decision to make, but it was for the best I believe. 

I'm going to start back with painting things and making crafts, something I haven't been able to do in years!!! I'm so looking forward to it too! I may even offer them up for sale here on my blog. I have so many projects I want to make and paint. Some have been put together for years, but waiting for me to paint. I'll also being doing some home improvements as well and will be blogging about those. So stay tuned for some new posts with lots of pictures!!!  

I've really missed you all. I miss seeing your projects too! I'll be visiting your blogs and commenting. :) 

I can't wait to see them all! I'm so excited to re-connect with you all!

I will be re-naming this blog, and re-designing it since I've closed this company. 

hmmmmm I wonder what I should call it? Any ideas?

Now onto the stamping company side of things.

The stamping company I started has been going so well. I have 14 designers I work for, turning their designs into clear stamps. And, soon we will be offering their designs in red rubber with cling cushion. Recently I was contacted by two very talented artists, Sherri Baldy of My Besties, and Christine Young of The Paper Nest Dolls. I now have 8 exclusive designs by each of these ladies, that they've drawn up just for my Treasured Times Rubber Stamps & Scrapbooking store. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to have them on my team! I really haven't had any time to paint at all. In fact the two projects I did start making for my own home, have only been basecoated. I'm hoping I will be able to get them finished in time for spring next year. We will see!

The grand kids are growing like weeds. The youngest is trying to crawl all ready. 

The other two are very busy little girls always into something it seems like.
